I have selected a more lofted club than usual as playing off of a downhill lie will produce a lower shot.
At address I have more weight favouring my left side. (leaning with the slope). This ensures my club stays low through impact and I make a crisp strike. A common problem I see amongst amateurs is to lean against the slope, this causes the club to bottom out too soon often resulting in thin strikes.
Backswing
I focus on keeping my lower body stable throughout the swing. This allows me to maintain my balance which is essential for good creating solid strikes from awkward lies.
I keep my weight favouring the left side to create a downward strike through impact
Impact
I have slightly increased the amount of pressure over my left side
My chest and hands are slightly ahead of the ball through impact. This allows me to strike the ball before the turf. Many amateurs let the club head move excessively past the hands in an attempt to create loft. This often results in ‘thin’ or ‘bladed’ shots.
Finish
My chest and body have fully extended post impact. This shows my body has rotated fully through the ball ensuring I maintain club head speed and do not decelerate through the hitting area. Any deceleration through impact can create mis strikes.
